July Devotion
Romans 8:28
NIV – And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.
ICB – We know that in everything God works for the good of those who love him. They are people who God called, because that was his plan.
The Goodness of God – the song lyrics say
All my life, you have been faithful
All my life, you have been so, so good
With every breath that I am able,
I will sing of the goodness of God
Every time I hear this song it truly makes me think back throughout my life and all the times God has been faithful and so so good to me.
As a child He protected me, even though I was living in a home of abuse that was filled with drugs and alcohol he protected me…things could have been worse. I am still alive.
He has given me a loving husband that walks this journey called life with me every single day. We certainly are not perfect and some days he drives me crazy and other days I drive him crazy, But I know he would never leave me or forsake me.
He has given me the great gift of being a Mom. My kids show me what real, unconditional love from God looks like. Again they are not perfect and somedays disobey and talk back and drive me nuts. But everyday I parent I rely of God just a little bit more. He is so so good to help me be the mom HE created me to be.
He has called me and with every step of obedience he gives me strength, courage, wisdom and direction to move forward.
Everyday HE is gracious to me – when I fail he lovingly reminds me of who I am in Him.
I could keep going on and on about all they ways God is good to me. But in the moments of despair, anxiety or frustration, I pray that God would remind me of his provision and all the ways he has been good to me as only God can.
Life can be difficult, we can have questions that go unanswered, love lost by either death or rejection, people can be unkind and intentionally hurtful. Our hearts desires can go unmet for a long time or maybe never met at all. But as a follower of Christ I am called and you are called, back to the good.
Even in this very moment if nothing seems good at all. GOD IS!!!
We have to know that in all things, he is working it out. We have to trust, have faith and surrender to the Lord. Everything we walk through good and bad is for our good and HIS GLORY.
Today let’s choose to remind ourselves of all the ways God has been good to us throughout our life thus far. I love keeping record of all the ways God has been good to me so when I am faced with a difficult circumstance or a challenging situation I can remind myself how God has been good and faithful in the past.
