Walk by Faith

“for we walk by faith, not by sight [living our lives in a manner consistent with our confident belief in God’s promises]—”

2 Corinthians 5:7 AMP

Walking by faith and not by sight requires a tremendous amount of courage and strength.  You must be willing to be misunderstood and even abandoned.  You must be willing to give up control of the life you thought you might have.  You must be willing to look like a fool.  But this journey will also be so rewarding and such a blessing.  It is a journey that is life changing, mind-boggling and super exciting.  It is a journey that will allow you to experience the fullness of God and His grace. There are many heroes of faith in the Bible. People who walked by faith not by sight; people who weren’t afraid to look like a fool; people who trusted the Lord and His plan.

    • Noah built an ark to save his family from the flood
    • Esther risked her life to save the Israelites
    • David, a shepherd boy, defeated Goliath, a giant
    • Moses parted the Red Sea and led the Israelites to freedom
    • Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego refused to worship the golden statue
    • Mary embraced God’s plan and became the Mother of the Savior of the World

Our family has had to walk by faith numerous times over the years.  In 2014, my husband lost his job and decided to pursue his dream of running his own business.  We had 3 small children and I was only working part-time. We had to trust that God would provide for us as a family and provide resources and customers for my husband’s new business.  One of our children struggled with muscle development in their jaw and face which caused severe food aversions. We had to trust that we were getting our child the right resources and treatment so they could eat properly and form a good relationship with food.  One of our other children was diagnosed with a deformity in their ear and went deaf, we had to trust that the Lord would keep our baby safe when they had gone into surgery multiple times as well as trust that the Lord would guide the doctors and nurses and heal our child so their hearing would be restored. I could go on and on and I am sure you have stories you could share of when you had to trust God and walk by faith and not by sight.

Most recently I have had to trust God and the crazy dream He has given me.  At age 41, I changed my career. I graduated from college with a degree in Accounting and have worked in that field for over 20 years, but God…

While walking a journey to a healthier lifestyle, the Lord starting stirring a love of encouraging other women to do the same.  But to do it differently than how the world has taught us.  The Lord has shown me over the years how to welcome Him into my health and wellness journey as well as provided resources and training for me to lead other women in walking a health and wellness journey with the Lord at the center of it. It’s nothing I ever imagined myself doing, but God has given me a desire-a passion and the training to walk out this journey. Going from an accountant to a fitness teacher is kind of crazy.  Walking by faith on this journey has required me to go to a place I don’t know.  God hasn’t given me the full outline, He has been revealing the next step as I walk in obedience.  Walking by faith has required me to hold on to the dreams God has placed in my heart even when I have no idea what I am doing.  Walking this journey has required me to press into the strength of the Lord and a determination in my heart to fulfill the calling He has placed on my life.  Walking by Faith means that even though I might not be able to see where I am going, I keep moving forward.

Martin Luther King Jr. said, “Faith is taking the first step, even when you don’t see the whole staircase.

How has God asked you to walk by faith and not by sight?
