How do you show someone you love them?
March 30, 2021
The soldiers led Jesus away into the palace and called together the whole company of soldiers. They put a purple robe on him, then twisted together a crown of thorns and set it on him. And they began to call out to him, “Hail, king of the Jews!” Again and again they struck him on the head with a staff and spit on him. Falling on their knees, they paid homage to him. And when they had mocked him, they took off the purple robe and put his own clothes on him. Then they led him out to crucify him.
Mark 15:16-20 NIV

There are so many was we can show someone love. These are all beautiful gestures, but they come fairly easy. When we think about how God showed His love for us it was far more costly. God’s love was shown through Jesus when he…
-
- Healed the broken
- Promoted the poor
- Befriended sinners
- Fed people who were hungry
- Washed the feet of those who would betray Him
- Hung on the cross for each and every one of our sins.
His love is constant and without conditions. God’s love is for everyone.
When the Roman soldiers took Him and whipped him, Jesus was saying I LOVE YOU.
When nails pierced his hands and feet, Jesus was saying I LOVE YOU.
Greater love has no-one than this, that he lay down his life for his friend (John 15:13). God’s love is so much greater and more costly than any gesture we can ever offer.
God loves you so much that He sent His one and only Son, Jesus Christ, to be born on earth and die on a cross. Why? Because we are all sinners and the Bible says the consequence of sin is death, eternal separation from God. There is nothing we can do to make us “good enough” for heaven.
But Thank you God for making a way. Jesus lived a perfect, blameless life and provided the perfect sacrifice for our sins. He died in our place! It is only by God’s grace and mercy that we can have eternal life with Him in heaven. All we have to do is have faith, to believe that Jesus died for us and ask Him to forgive our sins.
God is wildly and madly in love with you. He loves us so much that he sent his son to die for us. What a self-sacrificing act! Is it hard for your mind to comprehend? I know it is for mine. God reached out and emptied Himself completely for the very ones that rejected Him and expected nothing in return. You and I included.
What He did on the cross was for you, not the person next to you. Not the person you think is better or more holy than you. He died for YOU.
Blessings,
Cheryl
