Authentic Worship

Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in the Spirit and in truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks. God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in the Spirit and in truth. John 4:23-24
The definition for the word Worship is
~the feeling or expression of reverence and adoration for a deity.
~the acts or rites that make up a formal expression of reverence for a deity; a religious ceremony or ceremonies.
Our worship is an expression of reverence and adoration for The Lord!  Eugene Peterson says it like this, “Worship is the created – you and I-responding to the creator. We invite the author of life to to do what only he can do as we are being fueled by the Lord’s presence. When we raise our hands, it is an act of surrender. But God doesn’t actually care about the posture of your body. He cares about the posture of your heart.
Is your outward posture an authentic expression of the posture of your heart?
As you worship are you moving closer to HIM? Every time we draw near to the Lord he draws near to us.  God’s presence sets us apart.
When it comes to worshipping Jesus in song, we need songs that are Holy Spirit filled, passionate, authentic and messy songs that draw our hearts in to the Lord. Because when we draw near to the Lord, he draws near to us.  And When the Lord comes close, everything changes.
When we worship God, it builds our spirits and will lift our focus from the daily trials we face.
When anxiety overwhelms us and the circumstances surrounding us are challenging, we have a choice to shift our minds back to God trusting in His good and sovereign purposes. We do this through worship, and when we begin to worship Him the Holy Spirit helps us refocus . . .
On His word.
On His promises.
On His plan for our lives.
Worship can be our weapon. When we worship, we stop looking at the fight in front of us and start looking at the God in us!
Worship through your worry.
Worship through your fear.
Worship through your stress.
Worship through your exhaustion.
Whatever you’re dealing with today let worship be your weapon.
Lord as we raise our hands in worship help it to always be an authentic expression of a heart fully surrendered to you! Not for show or not out of obligation but out of pure worship and adoration for You.
