Cultivating spiritual fruit in daily wellness choices
May brings growth—flowers opening, trees budding, and gardens waking up. It’s a perfect reminder that the Holy Spirit is always growing something in us too. Paul calls these qualities the fruit of the Spirit, not the achievements of the Spirit. Fruit isn’t forced—it’s produced through connection.
Jesus said that apart from Him we can do nothing, but when we remain in Him, we bear much fruit. That means your spiritual life and your wellness decisions are more connected than you may realize. The choices you make each day—how you move, nourish your body, speak to yourself, respond to stress, and steward your energy—can either help or hinder the fruit God wants to grow in you.
A life that is physically run-down, emotionally depleted, or spiritually disconnected struggles to produce fruit. But when you slow down, create healthy rhythms, and care for the body and soul God entrusted to you, the soil of your life becomes fertile again.
Love grows as you care for yourself and have more capacity to care for others.
Joy grows when you create space to rest and celebrate small wins.
Peace grows when you silence noise and focus on God’s presence.
Self-control grows when you practice daily discipline, even in small choices.
You don’t produce fruit by trying harder—you produce fruit by staying close to the Source. Let your wellness habits this month be an act of worship, a way of saying, “Holy Spirit, cultivate Your character in me.”
“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.”
— Galations 5:22-23

Holy Spirit, cultivate Your fruit in me. Help my daily choices reflect Your work within me. Show me how to care for my heart, mind, and body in ways that make room for love, joy, peace, and all the fruit You desire to produce in my life. Amen.
